Lake Bluff Contractor Charged with Theft

Sheriff's Office alleges Robert J. Madro never followed up on a roofing job that included $9,000 deposit.

A Lake Bluff roofing contractor faces a felony theft charge after not beginning work to replace a roof at a residence after being paid $9,000 to do so.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office announced criminal charges Monday against Robert J. Madro, 57, owner of Timberline Exteriors in Lake Bluff. Madro allegedly entered into a contract to replace the roof of a residence in the 1100 block of Foster Ave. in Lake Bluff in May 2014, but when the job had not begun in August, the homeowner requested the return of the $9,000 without success.

Madro’s official charge is theft by deception, a Class 3 Felony. He surrendered to Lake County Sheriff’s detectives on January 29 and released on a a $50,000 recognizance bond.
