Lake Bluff Coronavirus: Face Coverings Now Mandatory
Starting Friday, Lake Bluff residents must wear a face covering while working, shopping or riding on public transportation.
LAKE BLUFF, IL—Starting Friday, everyone in Lake Bluff must wear a face covering while working, shopping or riding on public transportation in order to reduce the potential spread of the new coronavirus.
Village President Kathleen O'Hara issued an emergency order requiring residents to wear a face covering when in public places. The order will continue throughout the COVID-19 emergency, she said.
"Our use of face coverings is critical to protect each other, as well as for the safe reopening of businesses and public life under the governor's revised order," Village President O'Hara said. "We need to start this practice now for the safety of residents, essential workers, and visitors of our village."

- Visiting healthcare professionals.
- Riding in public transportation, taxis, or ride shares.
According to village officials, there are limited exceptions to this requirement for:

- Children younger than five years old.
- Persons who cannot safely wear a face covering.
- Engaging in outdoor recreational activity while at least six feet from others.
- Riding in personal automobiles.
- Remaining at home or in a private space with members of the same household.
Face coverings help reduce the risk that others will contract COVID-19 if a person has the virus but does not have symptoms, health officials have said. According to O'Hara, it is still important to stay home, stay at least six feet away from others and abstain from social gatherings.
