Lake Bluff Crime: BMW Changes Colors At Shop, 'Politically Motivated' Yard Damage, Argument Over B & B
Lake Bluff police reports: March 19-March 25

LAKE BLUFF, IL — The following information comes from the Lake Bluff Police Department as a record of police activity. Arrests are not an indication of guilt and criminal charges are merely allegations which can be dropped or reduced. All defendants are innocent until their guilt is established in court.
STRAY DOG
On March 19 at 6:52 p.m., police responded to the 200 block of Buckminster Court for a stray dog. Officers met with the caller who advised the owner had been contacted and was enroute to pick up their dog.

SHOPLIFTING
Shortly before 8 p.m. on March 19, police responded to a business in the 900 block of Rockland Road for a delayed retail theft.

BATTERY
At 9:49 p.m. on March 19, police responded to the Public Safety Building for a report of a battery occurring on US 41 Northbound south of Route 176.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
At 11:40 a.m. on March 20, police responded to the Public Safety Building to meet with a resident regarding damage to a yard lamp light that she believes was politically motivated. Officer responded to her residence on E. Blodgett Avenue and observed a metal and plastic lamp hanging from a wooden post. Officer observed no signs of criminal intent and advised the complainant that the incident will be documented in case further situations occur.
ANIMAL FOUND
Shortly after 9 a.m. on March 21, police responded to the Lake Bluff Public Safety Building for a found dog. Officer was able to locate the owner and then returned the dog to the owner.
CHECK OF WELL BEING
At 11:39 a.m. on March 21, police responded to the 200 block of S. Waukegan Rd. for a check well-being involving an elderly male with possible Alzheimer’s. Officer made contact with the man who was able to articulate clearly his reason for being at the store. The subject was able to provide officers with his name, current location, and home address. The subject showed no sign of confusion and continued shopping.
SCAMMER REPORT
At 1:34 p.m. on March 21, police responded to the Lake Bluff Public Safety Building for a resident providing information for the police. The resident had been contacted by an unknown subject claiming to be from the Internal Revenue Service stating he owed money. The resident did not wish to make a report and only wanted the incident documented. The phone number provided for the offender has since been forwarded to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration for further investigation.
SUSPICIOUS EMAIL LINK
At 2:30 p.m. on March 21, police met with a complainant regarding a suspicious email he had received. The email was requesting that he follow a link to another website and the complainant stated he did not click on the link. Officer advised the email was an internet phishing scam and to delete the email and block the address. No other police service was requested.
ACCIDENT WITH PROPERTY DAMAGE
At 3:45 p.m. on March 21, police responded to the area of Sheridan Road and E. Scranton Avenue for a two vehicle property damage only traffic accident. Illinois Traffic Crash Report was completed and one driver was issued a citation for disobeying a stop sign.
SHOPLIFTING
At 6:41 p.m. on March 21, police responded to the 900 block of Rockland Road for a delayed report of a retail theft.
ACCIDENT WITH PROPERTY DAMAGE
At 8:26 a.m. on March 22, police responded to Rockland Rd. and Waukegan Rd. for a property damage only motor vehicle accident involving two vehicles. An Illinois Crash Report was completed and copies were distributed to both parties. Traffic citation was issued to the at fault party for improper lane usage.
SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE
At 11:25 a.m. on March 22, police responded to the 30 block of Sherwood Terr. for a delayed report of a suspicious vehicle. The caller stated that when pulling into the parking lot of her business she observed two white males described as an older man and a man in his twenties walking away from the door of her business. The caller then stated she entered her business and observed the two males staring at her and did not leave the parking lot until 10 minutes later. The two males then left in a green Buick Sedan with Wisconsin plates.
THREAT
Shortly before 11 p.m. on March 22, police responded to the 500 block of East Scranton Avenue for a report of a threat received by telephone from a disgruntled client. The complainant requested an extra patrol of his residence.
DISPUTE
At 4:41 p.m. on March 23, police responded to a dealership on Skokie Hwy for a verbal customer/service manager dispute. Officer met with the customer, who advised he brought his black BMW in for a recall, and when the vehicle was returned to him, some body trim pieces were blue instead of black. Officer met with the service manager, who stated no body pieces were touched, and that the recall was due to a fuel pump, and servicing it did not involve manipulating or removing body pieces. The manager stated the pieces may have faded over the five year life of the car. The manager requested the customer leave the premise. Officer told the customer what he had discussed with the manager, and that if he wished to pursue the matter, it would have to be done civilly. The customer stated he understood, and left the scene. Officer advised the service manager and cleared.
LOOSE DOG
At 4:50 p.m. on March 23, police responded to the park district for a report of a black lab running on the golf course near West Washington Avenue. Officer checked the area, but was unable to locate the dog.
SOLICITOR COMPLAINT
Around noon on March 24, police responded to the 900 block of Rockland Road for a solicitor complaint, Female subject selling candy. Officer checked the area but was unable to locate. Officer cleared to resume patrol duties.
YARD URINATION
At 1:36 p.m. on March 24, police responded to the 200 block of E Center Ave for a report of a male subject who had urinated in a yard. Officers checked the area, but were unable to locate the subject.
SUSPICIOUS PERSON
Around 7:30 p.m. on March 24, police responded to the area of Sheridan Road at Woodland Road for a report of a male/white subject wearing a black coat walking in the street. The complainant stated the subject seemed confused but did not speak with him. Officers checked the immediate and surrounding area, the subject was gone prior to officer’s arrival. The complainant did not wish to be seen, officers cleared.
UNKNOWN LOUD MUSIC
Shortly after midnight on March 25, police responded to the 29000 block of N Environ Cir for a report of loud music followed by a loud thump noise. The refused caller stated they did not know where the noise was coming from. Officer checked the area and did not observe any irregularities.
B & B ARGUMENT
Shortly before 1:30 p.m. on March 25, police responded to the Public Safety Building for a report of a next door neighbor who in disagreement with the complainant about starting a bed and breakfast in their home which is described as a two flat. The complainant stated that his neighbor stressed his discomfort about a bed and breakfast possibly coming into the neighborhood. I advised him that if he had any concerns about the matter that he should take his concerns to the village hall regarding any zoning issues or complaints along those lines.
ACCIDENT WITH PROPERTY DAMAGE
Shortly after 5 p.m. on March 25, police responded to the intersection of Waukegan Rd. and Rockland Road for a two vehicle accident property damage only. Officer relocated the crash to the Carriage Park parking Lot and completed an Illinois Accident Report and distributed copies to both parties. One citation was issued for failure to yield turning left.
PASSED OUT IN THE BATHROOM
Around 9:30 p.m. on March 25, police responded to the 20 block of E. Center Ave to assist ambulance with a male subject who had passed out in the men's restroom. The Lake Bluff Fire Department was in charge at the scene and the patient was transported to Lake Forest Hospital by Lake Forest Ambulance 421.
ACCIDENT WITH PROPERTY DAMAGE
Shortly after 9:30 p.m. on March 25, police responded to Route 176 and Shagbark Road for a two vehicle accident with no injuries. Officer was notified that Unit #2 is a volunteer Lake Bluff Fire Department employee who was responding to an emergency call in progress in his personal vehicle. Per fire department policy the driver submitted to a portable breathalyzer test that displayed a BAC of .000. Officer completed an Illinois Traffic Crash Report and distributed copies to both parties. One citation was issued for failure to yield while turning left.
