Lake Bluff Obituary: Dr. Alex Edward DeStefano, D.D.S., 77
Dr. DeStefano was a dentist in Grayslake for 43 years.

Dr. Alex Edward DeStefano, D.D.S., age 77, passed away at his home in Lake Bluff, Illinois, on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 following an illness.
He is survived by his four children: Kenneth DeStefano (Laurie) of Brookeville, Maryland; Mary Roxanne Stanfel (Richard) of Deerfield, Illinois; Jennifer Strauss (Gregory) of Lake Forest, Illinois; and Alex DeStefano II of Lake Bluff, Illinois. He is also survived by his four grandchildren: Alex Leo DeStefano; Joseph DeStefano; Nicholas Strauss; and Joseph Strauss. His beloved wife of 52 years, Roxanne DeStefano, passed away in October 2014.
Dr. DeStefano was born March 19, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois to the late James and Anna DeStefano. He was one of five children having a twin brother, James DeStefano. Dr. DeStefano graduated in 1962 from Loyola University School of Dentistry. That same year he married Roxanne Morgaridge and they moved to San Diego, California where Dr. DeStefano served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy practicing dentistry. After two years, the couple moved back to the Chicago area to be close to family and spent years raising their four children in Grayslake then Libertyville, Illinois. They retired to Red Gate Farm in Bristol, Wisconsin for almost 15 years then finally moving to Lake Bluff, Illinois in 2014 to be closer to their children.
Dr. DeStefano was a dentist in Grayslake, Illinois for 43 years. He was loved by his office staff and his patients alike. He was talented, smart, kind, generous and funny. His character and integrity made an impression on everyone he met. Dr. DeStefano was a member of the American Dental Association, Illinois Dental Society, Chicago Dental Society and Lake County Dental Society. He also served as the Town Supervisor for Bristol, Wisconsin. He was an avid golfer, golfing with the same group for over 40 years.
The visitation will be held Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Wenban Funeral Home, Lake Forest, Illinois from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be held Friday, May 8, 2015 at the Church of St. Mary, Lake Forest, Illinois at 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Catholic Charities.
