Lake Bluff Crime: Police Called Over Honking, Hit & Run, Lost Dogs
Lake Bluff police reports: March 5-March 18

LAKE BLUFF, IL — The following information comes from the Lake Bluff Police Department as a record of police activity. Arrests are not an indication of guilt and criminal charges are merely an accusation that can be dropped or reduced. Everyone is presumed innocent until their guilt is established by a court of law.
STRAY DOG FOUND
Police met with a caller shortly after 4 p.m. on March 18 who said they found a Corgi mix dog on Route 176 near the 900 block of Rockland Road. Police took the dog to Knollwood Animal Hospital for impoundment.

SUICIDAL PERSON
Around 9:15 p.m. on March 18, police responded to a call of a possibly suicidal person on the 20 block of E. North Ave. Police met the patient who was taken to Lake Forest Hospital via ambulance.

HIT AND RUN
Police got a call of a delayed hit and run property damage accident on the 200 block of South Waukegan Road around 3:30 p.m. on March 18. Police completed accident reports and tried unsuccessfully to identify the car that fled the scene from security cameras in the area.
THEFT
Shortly before 2 p.m. on March 17, police were called to the 900 block of Rockland Road for a report of shoplifting. Once they arrived they issued a citation to a single adult man.
SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE
Around 8 p.m. on March 17, police were called to the 300 block of Belle Foret Drive for a report of a suspicious vehicle. They found a car on a gravel path at the golf course behind the callers home. Police spoke with the driver, a man who explained he was searching for a lost dog. Police explained the situation to the caller and closed the case.
PARKING PROBLEM
Police got a call shortly after 4 p.m. on March 15 from a caller who wanted to avoid locking up someone else's semi-truck that was parked on their business' property. Police found the owner of the truck at the derailment site in Lake Forest. The owner moved the truck, solving the problem.
FRAUD
Police were called to the Public Saftety Building at 10:42 a.m. on March 15 for a fraud reported from a business on the 900 block of Sherwood drive. The case remains under investigation.
ADDITIONAL ACCIDENT NEAR INJURY ACCIDENT
Shortly after 10:30 a.m. on March 14, police saw a three car traffic accident on southbound Route 41. An ambulance was dispatched to the scene and took one of the drivers to Lake Forest ER. One driver was cited for speeding. Responding police also witnessed another car slide off the road on southbound Route 41 at 11:38 a.m. just south of the site of the accident. That vehicle was not damaged and the driver was able to free himself from the snow bank. Police stayed on hand until his vehicle was removed.
FOUND DOG
Police were called to Rockland Avenue and West Washington Avenue shortly before 4 p.m. on March 13 for a report of a found dog. Police brought the dog back to the Lake Bluff Public Safety Building where they reunited it with its owner.
SUSPICIOUS HONKING
Police were called to the area of Atkinson Road and Adelphia Avenue shortly after 5 p.m. on March 12 by a report of a man in a car honking his horn at other vehicles. Police met with the man, who told them he had been honking because other cars were speeding. The officer issued him a warning for illegal use of the horn. Police told the man to call the police if other vehicles were speeding rather than honk at them.
DUI
Police stopped a driver on Route 41 southbound at Gage Lane near Lake Forest Hospital around 3:30 p.m. on March 12. They arrested the driver for speeding and driving under the influence with more than 0.08 percent blood alcohol content.
