Alger’s award includes eligibility for a cash prize of $10,000 and the opportunity to participate in YoungArts’ regional program in New York where he will have access to renowned mentors, such as Academy Award-winning director, producer, editor, writer, and cinematographer Doug Blush and award-winning visual artist Teresita Fernández. Alger will also be offered opportunities to share his work publicly at institutions such as the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
“This award means the world to me. I’m absolutely thrilled to be a winner of YoungArts. My whole life has been dedicated to the cinematic arts. I’ve been to many schools, and none of them has supported my endeavors in film as much as my current school, Beacon Academy. I’m truly lucky to be a student at Beacon knowing that they will always encourage and incorporate my filmmaking into my everyday life,” said Alger.
