Lake Bluff Woman Faces 3rd DUI in 6 Months

Victoria Van Esbroeck also allegedly drove her car into a school bus this year.

A Lake Bluff woman will be in court Friday morning to face her third DUI charge in the last six months.

All three DUIs have come after a January incident in which Victoria Van Esbroeck, 48 was charged with leaving the scene of an accident after allegedly driving her car into a school bus in Lake Forest.

Van Esbroeck was indicted by a Lake County Grand Jury on Nov. 25 for aggravated driving under the influence for her latest DUI, which came on Oct. 23 in Lake Bluff, according to the Daily North Shore.

Lake Bluff Deputy Police Chief Mike Hosking told the DNS Van Esbroeck was driving near the intersection of Walnut and Scranton at 6:11 p.m. when her car struck another and she fled the scene.

A police officer tracked Van Esbroeck to her residence after a witnesses provided a license plate number and vehicle description. There, the officer detected an odor of alcohol on her breath and she was charged with aggravated driving under the influence, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, driving while license suspended, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and improper lane usage.

She allegedly made a comment to the officer about wanting to hurt herself, so she was taken to Lake Forest Hospital.

Van Esbroeck was also arrested for DUI in Lake Bluff on May 17 and June 6.

On Jan 12, she was accused of leaving the scene of the bus accident, which occurred near Illinois Road and Bank Lane.
