LAKE FOREST, IL — Veterans from American Legion Post 264 in Lake Forest asked for help from local volunteers during Memorial Day weekend. The Post announced it needs assistance decorating the graves of veterans at local cemeteries between May 24 and May 28.

Volunteers ranging in age from Scouts to senior citizens were encouraged to take part in the weekend's events. According to a statement from Post 264, getting maximum attendance at this year's Memorial Day Ceremony and support placing flags in cemeteries is "especially meaningful this year as the Post observes its 100th year supporting veterans and our local community."

Volunteers and Legion members will post American flags around downtown Lake Forest and in the city's west side business areas on the morning of Memorial Day on May 27. Anyone looking to help was asked to arrive at Market Square at 6 a.m. for posting of the flags and at 4 p.m. to collect the holiday flags.
