Lake Forest Blaze Injures Firefighter

Attic fire leaves firefighter with minor injuries, no civilians injured, LFFD says.

LAKE FOREST, IL — One firefighter was lightly injured after crews responded to a report of a roof fire in a single family home Saturday evening. The first engine arrived shortly after 5 p.m. and described a moderate amount of grey smoke coming from the attic space on the gable end of the home. The alarm was quickly upgraded, and within about 45 minutes the fire was isolated in the attic and extinguished before it could spread, according to the Lake Forest Fire Department.

Other local fire departments providing aid and equipment to contain the fire and cover other calls included Deerfield, Lake Bluff, Lincolnshire, North Chicago, Knollwood, Libertyville, Countryside, Wheeling and Mundelein.

No civilians were reported injured in the fire. Preliminary estimates suggest the fire caused about $50,000 in damage. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
