Lake Forest Club Alumna Qualifies for Olympic Trials

Swimmer Earns Attempt to Make U.S. Olympic Team

Lake Forest, Illinois, June 24, 2016 - Reilly Lanigan, 17, the former Lake Forest Club swimmer and multi-record holder, qualified for the chance to make the U.S. Olympic Team in Women’s Swimming.

Lanigan beat the time standard of 4:19.99 for the individual 400 Meter Freestyle on Friday, June 17. Her time of 4:19.75 made the cut just days before the U.S. Olympic Trials deadline of Monday, June 20. She qualifies to swim the event in a preliminary heat on Monday, June 27 in Omaha, Nebraska.

As both a 10 & under, and 12 & under aged competitor, she achieved numerous team and conference records as a member of the Lake Forest Club Sharks swim team. LFC members are sending congratulations and best wishes for Lanigan. Current team swimmers are signing a commemorative banner to send her in honor of the accomplishment.
