Lake Forest College Students Taking Part in Historical Dig

Students are unearthing the ground of a historical Chicago site designed by Louis Sullivan and Frank Lloyd Wright.

The college and the Society of Architectural Historians are partnering in a project that includes an archaeological dig on the grounds of the Charnley-Persky House in the city’s Gold Coast neighborhood, according to WTTW’s Chicago Tonight program.

“Urban archaeology allows us to bring the past to light in ways that inform our present understandings of our great American cities,” archaeology professor Rebecca Graff, who is leading the excavation.
