Lake Forest Fire Chief Retires
Fire Chief Jeff Howell calls it a career after 26 years with the Lake Forest Fire Department.

LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest Fire Chief Jeffrey B. Howell has retired after 26 years with the Lake Forest Fire Department.
Howell's last day of service to the city was Friday, Sept. 2, according to a city news release. He has been a a Firefighter/Paramedic, Lieutenant/Paramedic, Medical Officer, Captain, Deputy Chief and Chief.
“I was given incredible opportunities to serve Lake Forest residents in several capacities over the years and I am better because of it, and I also have had the privilege of working with one of the finest fire departments around, with a staff that always goes the extra mile to serve the community at the highest level,” said Howell.

Howell also started the NFPA Risk Watch program for grades K-4 in the public school system and was the Department’s first Juvenile Fire Setter counselor.
“Lake Forest has been fortunate to have Chief Howell serve the City for so many years," Mayor Donald P. Schoenheider said. "He has maintained an outstanding presence in the community and has represented the City with enthusiasm and professionalism. I know the staff and residents will miss him, and thank him for his excellent leadership.”
