LAKE FOREST HOLIDAY KICK-OFF IN HISTORIC MARKET SQUARE ON NOVEMBER 27

Holiday Kick Off in Market Square, Debut of Holiday Buttons, Tree Lighting Ceremony, Drawing for VIP Passes to 4th of July Festivities

Lake Forest, IL – November 19, 2015 –Lake Forest is launching the holiday season with a day- long celebration the day after Thanksgiving. Revelers can look forward to the debut of the Chamber of Commerce’s winning holiday button design, a drawing for VIP passes at the 2016 Fourth of July festival, and the traditional tree lighting ceremony in historic Market Square.

The button design contest is sponsored by the Chamber every year and is open to 1st through 12th graders in Lake Forest and Lake Bluff. The holiday buttons are distributed at the ceremony and at the Chamber office.

The winning design, a starlit holiday scene set in Market Square, was created by Zoe Floriani, a 1st grader at Sheridan School in Lake Forest.

The second place design went to Luca Impesi, a 4th grader at Everett School in Lake Forest and third place was awarded to Bella Griffith, a 4th grader at Cherokee School in Lake Forest. All three winners will receive Chamber gift certificates for their winning entry.

New to this year’s festivities, the merchants, the Lake Forest Parks and Recreation Foundation and Chamber are partnering on a drawing to win a free family VIP pass to the 4th of July festival and fireworks valued at $350.

Entering is simple – stop by a store, pick up a raffle entry form and get it stamped by 8 Market Square businesses. Drop off the completed entry form between 3 and the start of the ceremony at 4:30 pm in the raffle drum set on the event stage on Western Avenue. The winner will be announced during the ceremony.

The day will culminate with the ceremonial flip of the switch to illuminate the downtown area with thousands of twinkling lights.
