Lake Forest Man Charged with DUI After Hit-and-Run

Police say they found the 40-year-old with "red and glossy" eyes Friday night.

LAKE FOREST, IL - Police arrested a Lake Forest man in connection with a hit-and-run accident that occurred last Friday at Green Bay Road and Atteridge.

Stephen G. Strzalka, 40, of the 1400 block of Lawrence Avenue was charged with driving under the influence, driving while license suspended and unlawful possession of a controlled substance at 7:23 p.m. on Sept. 23 after police found him driving the red Ford Mustang that was sought in connection with the accident near Westminster and Bank Lane.

Police say they found Strzalka with “red and glassy” eyes and a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. The vehicle was also required to have a Breath Alcohol Ignition Interlock Device inside, but it was not located.
