Lake Forest Obituary: Ann Elizabeth Johnson, 78
Ann is remembered as an active leader in the Lake Forest community.

Ann Elizabeth Johnson, 78, longtime resident of Lake Forest, Illinois and beloved wife of Richard Johnson, passed away on October 21, 2015 at Presence Holy Family Medical Center.
She was born November 1, 1936, to Elizabeth and Arthur Sektnan in Glasgow, Montana and grew up in Milton Freewater, Oregon. Ann attended Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington where she became a member her sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma. After transferring to Oregon State University, she was a princess on the Homecoming Court, rode on the Oregon State float in the 1957 Rose Bowl parade, and sang in the Oregon State Choraliers, prior to graduating in 1958.
After teaching school for one year in Salem, Oregon, Ann became a flight attendant for Trans World Airlines in 1959, based in New York City. She also taught school in Browns Mills, New Jersey, Worthington, Ohio and Westlake, Ohio.
In Lake Forest, Ann was very active as a leader in the community. She served as chair of the black tie fund raising benefit for the Lake Forest Symphony Association, and served for several years as president of its Guild. She also served as chair of the black tie fund raising benefit for the Gorton Community Center, and served 20 years on its Board of Trustees. She was appointed to the City of Lake Forest Gorton Commission, and served as a Lake Forest ambassador. She also served as advisor to the house president of the Northwestern University chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma.
Ann had a passion for international travel, having visited more than 60 countries. She also lived in many places including New Jersey, Columbus, Cleveland, Tehran, Iran, and Lake Forest. In recent years, Ann spent winters in Naples, Florida, enjoying the warmer weather.
Ann is survived by her husband of more than 55 years, Richard, and children Julie, Jennifer, and Douglas.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 3:00pm at the First Presbyterian Church, 700 N Sheridan Road, in Lake Forest, IL.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her honor to The Oregon State University Foundation, 850 SW 35th Street, Corvallis, OR 97333-4015, designated for the Music Department Unrestricted Fund, or to The American Lung Association, 55 West Wacker Drive, Suite 800, Chicago, IL 60601, designated for the Ann Elizabeth Johnson memorial.
