Lake Forest Obituary: Clark Hungerford Jr., 87

Memorial Service will be Friday in Lake Forest.

Clark Hungerford Jr., 87, of Lake Bluff died at home on December 11, 2014 after a long illness.

Clark attended Lawrenceville School in Princeton, New Jersey and Princeton University before graduating from Auburn University and the University of Chicago receiving a Bachelor of Civil Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration.

His work career was in railroad operations consisting of 15 years at the Southern Railroad, seven years with the Burlington Northern and 21 years with Western Railway retiring as president of the Western Weighing and Inspection Bureau.

Clark was active in supporting railway organizations and was the first president of the Birmingham Alabama Superintendent’s Group; he was president of the Western Railway Club and president of the American Assoc. of Railway Superintendents. Clark was chairman of the Chicago Lawrenceville Group and had the honor of serving as chairman of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest Board of Deacons.

Clark generously assisted in raising five children with positive guidance and support that played a major role in their lives. His love for friends and family was a natural perk of his life.

Clark leaves his wife, Twila of 43 years; children, Darrald (Patty) Spencer, Vicki (Steve) Rivi, Shirley King, Sherry (Toy) DeBardeleben and Clark F. (Cheryl) Hungerford; 11 grandchildren; his brother Richard Cannon Hungerford; nieces Betsy Stone and Helen Eddy and nephew Jeff Arrick

A memorial service will be held at 3 PM on Friday, December 19 at The First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest, 700 N. Sheridan Road, Lake Forest. Info – Wenban Funeral Home, www.wenbanfh.com or 847-234-0022.
