Jeannie (Madona) Broadley, 88, beloved mother and grandmother, died on Wednesday February 4, 2015 in Glenview, IL. She was born and raised in Winthrop, MA, daughter of the late Louis and Filomena Madona. Jeannie was a CT resident from 1945 until 2002, during which time she was married, had two (2) children, Gloria (Broadley) Burke of Lake Forest, IL and Richard Broadley of Meriden, CT, and opened and ran Gene’s Restaurant of Southington/Plantsville, CT for more than 35 years. In 2002, Jeannie moved to Lake Forest, IL to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law, Paul, and their three children. Jeannie loved to garden, cook, read, swim, go for walks and spend time with family and friends. She also enjoyed volunteering her time and energies and regularly crocheted blankets for the Infant Society and knitted lap blankets for the Veteran’s home. Jeannie was an out-going, loving and generous woman who struggled with Dementia in her final years, which stole her ability to fully enjoy all of the people and activities that she loved. Jeannie leaves behind her children, Gloria and Richard, their spouses, and 4 grandchildren, Allison Burke, Sean Burke and Leslie Burke of IL and Neil Broadley, who currently resides in Tokyo, Japan. Private funeral services are being held for the family in Lake Forest, IL.
