Lake Forest Obituary: John "Fred" Huhnke, 83

Lifelong Lake Forest resident owned the Couture Shop.

John “Fred” Huhnke, 83, a lifelong resident of Lake Forest passed away January 3, 2015. John was born September 29, 1931, the son of Peg and John Huhnke of Lake Forest. Mr. Huhnke served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in 1952 where he was stationed in Pusan. On June 8, 1956, Fred graduated from The Art Institute of Chicago. Later that year on October 6, 1956, Fred united in marriage to Rosemary Baldwin.
Fred owned the Couture Shop in Lake Forest. The shop was located below the Lantern which was owned by his father John “Jack” Huhnke. Fred later retired as a fashion designer from Hart, Schaffner and Marx.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Peg and John Huhnke, his brother Tom Huhnke and sister Mary Bruno.

Fred is survived by his loving spouse Rosemary and two daughters, Mallory (Steve) Johnson and Leah (Les) Hellemann, five grandchildren; Justin, Travis, Allie Johnson and Brandon and Derek Hellemann.
Services and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund, 34 Washington Street, Suite 200, Wellesley Hills, MA. 024021.
