Lake Forest Obituary: Mary Bannerman Frost, 87

Mary Bannerman Frost, 87, of Lake Forest, IL died peacefully in her home, April 20, 2015 after a lengthy, courageous battle with breast cancer. Mary was the loving and devoted wife for nearly 62 years of William (Dal) Dalrymple Frost. Mary wed the love of her life on September 5, 1953. She was the proud mother of Katie Frost (David) Bibbs of Lake Forest, IL and William (Will) Dalrymple (JoEllen) Frost, Jr of Anchorage, AK, and adoring grandmother of Mary Bibbs, Will Bibbs and Sophie Frost. She was the sister to Teri Bannerman (Elliot) Ponchick and aunt to Jeff Ponchick and Laura Ponchick of Los Angeles, CA. Fond sister in law to Diane Frost (Donald) Wick, of Homer, AK. Mary was born January 21, 1928 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She grew up in Chicago and Lake Bluff, IL and has been a resident of Lake Forest for over 61 years. She attended Lake Forest High School for her freshman and sophomore years and graduated from Ferry Hall in Lake Forest in 1945. She graduated from Wellesley College in Massachusetts with a major in Political Science in 1949. Mary travels took her to Egypt, Africa, Asia, Russia, the Far East, the UK, Alaska and numerous times to Europe. She loved spending time with her family in Palm Springs, CA and northern Wisconsin at our family summer lodge. She loved fly fishing, canoeing, gardening, sailing, her many bridge groups and took great delight in her orchids. Mary leaves behind many long time friends who brought her much joy. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Alvin Schiffmann (1960), her father, William Campbell Bannerman (1982) and her mother, Mary Louise Schiffmann (1993). In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Mary’s name to Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart, Lake Forest, IL or St. Patrick’s Church, Lake Forest, IL.
There will be a Funeral Mass at St. Patrick’s Church, 950 W. Everett Road in Lake Forest, IL on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at 11:30 am. There will be no visitation. Interment Lake Forest Cemetery.
