Lake Forest Obituary: Patricia Durand Baldwin, 85
A funeral service will take place September 18 at the Church of St. Mary.

Patricia Durand Baldwin, 85, of Lake Forest, IL and Tequesta, FL, passed away Saturday, September 5th, 2015. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family.
Patricia was born on May 3rd, 1930 in Lake Forest, Illinois to Jack and Genevieve Durand. She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, George P. Baldwin Jr., sister Grace D. Lasier, brother Scott S. Durand. Survivors include George Baldwin III, Jackie (Steve) Epstein, Rosemary (Gregory) Sarmas, Barney (Cindy) Baldwin, and Colleen Baldwin. She is the grandmother of 15, great grandmother of 11, and best friend to her dog, Sadie. Patricia took great pride growing up in the Lake Forest and Lake Bluff area. She had many fond memories of Crabtree Farm where her grandparents lived. She was an avid athlete and competed in swimming events throughout high school. She graduated Lake Forest High School in 1948. She attended college at Butler University and Lake Forest College. On November 25th, 1950 she married George P. Baldwin. They had 5 children. They assumed ownership of George Baldwin Plastering, family owned business, in 1966. She continued working together with her husband until 1984 when they retired. They spent their winters in Tequesta, FL and their summers in Lake Forest, IL for the rest of their lives. Patricia and George loved having a good time with their family and friends. Patricia was active in many organizations throughout the years. The organizations include the American Needlepoint Guild, American Legion, Elks, Moose, Deerpath Women’s Golf League, Lake Forest Women’s Club, Tequesta Women’s Club, Saint Jude’s Catholic Church, Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, Lake Forest Senior Center, Tequesta Country Club, and she volunteered for various local organizations and causes. She had an exceptional artistic talent when it came to needlepoint, crochet, and knitting. Her works that she has passed on are heartfelt gifts to her family and friends. Patricia was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, a good friend to many, and she will be greatly missed by everyone, but she is now at home with her beloved George.
