Lake Forest Oktoberfest Schedule Announced

Sixteen Candles and 97Nine will perform atthe 2nd Annual Oktoberfest celebration at Oct. 14 at Deerpath Community Park.

LAKE FOREST-LAKE BLUFF, IL - From Friends of Lake Forest Parks and Recreation: The Friends of Lake Forest Parks and Recreation Foundation will host their second annual Oktoberfest celebration on Saturday, October 14th at Deerpath Community Park, 400 Hastings Road, Lake Forest. The event will feature a German biergarden underneath the biggest beer tent on the North Shore, live bands including Sixteen Candles and 97Nine, German food, games, and activities.

“Lake Forest Oktoberfest brings the all the fun elements of a contemporary German biergarden including beer, wine, German food and live music to Lake Forest,” said event director Rick Amos. “This year we are very excited to present two great locals bands: headliner Sixteen Candles and opening band 97Nine.” Sixteen Candles, established in 2003, has a huge following in Chicago and brings back to life the best hits from the 80's. Formed in 2012, 97Nine covers classic rock from Aerosmith to ZZ Top and features some of the most well-known artists from the Chicago area including guitar virtuoso Dave Uhrich.

Admission tickets are $10 each and can be purchased online at www.FriendsLFPR.org or at the gate (cash or credit, kids under 5 are free). Beer, wine, and food will be sold (cash only). No outside food or drinks allowed. A commemorative beer stein will be available for $20. Premier parking passes are $20 and can be purchased online as space is available and includes in/out privileges. General parking is $10 on the day of event only, as space is available (cash only). Deerpath Community Park is just a short 5 minute walk from the east Lake Forest Train Station. Thank you to Lake Forest Bank and Trust and Fields Auto Group for their generous sponsorship.

Proceeds from the event help support the enhancement of Lake Forest Parks & Recreation Department’s programs, services, facilities, and need-based activity scholarships for families in the community. Through funds raised by tax-deductible donations, the Fred Jackson Annual Golf Classic, Festival & Fireworks, Oktoberfest and Dinner with Santa, the Friends have provided substantial funding dedicated to beautify parks, make structural improvements, and expand recreational programming.
