The three finalists to become joint superintendent of District 67 and District 115 appeared at a public forum Tuesday evening.

LAKE FOREST, IL — The three finalists to succeed Mike Simeck as joint superintendent of Lake Forest School District 67 and Lake Forest Community High School District 115 appeared at an online forum Tuesday night.

The three candidates are:

  • Suzanne Johnson — deputy superintendent of instruction at Elgin Area School District U46
  • Matthew Montgomery — superintendent of Revere Local School District in northeastern Ohio

Questions submitted by members of the forum were posed to the trio of superintendent candidates by students and local volunteers, and the audience was invited to provide feedback following the online broadcast. (Video above.)

District officials said the two school boards will consider the community's response to the forum while conducting a final round of interviews with the finalists during joint special board meetings set for Wednesday and Thursday.

The boards plan to complete the hiring process before the end of the school year, having hired an interim superintendent only through the end of June.

District officials released a statement after voters Tuesday selected school board members for the next four years at the April 6 municipal elections. The new boards will be sworn in next month.

"Following last week’s forum, the Boards conducted final-round interviews and deliberated our path forward," it said. "We are pleased to report that we are on track to take action in open session on the next Superintendent of the Lake Forest Schools later this month."
