League Ready for National Voter Registration Day Sept 27 and Debates

This election is important, and every eligible American deserves the chance to weigh in: get registered and attend candidate debates

The League of Women Voters of Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Area is participating in National Voter Registration Day (NVRD), a nationwide, nonpartisan effort to register thousands of voters on Tuesday, September 27th. For people who are not able to register at Lake Forest City Hall, by mail, or online, a deputy registrar from the League can make arrangements to meet. Please email contact@lwv-lflb.org.

On September 27, 2016, volunteers, celebrities, and organizations from all over the country will “hit the streets” for National Voter Registration Day. This single day of coordinated field, technology, and media efforts will create pervasive awareness of voter registration opportunities reaching tens of thousands of voters.

“This election is important, and every eligible American deserves the chance to weigh in,” said Wyn Cain, President. “Voter registration is the key to helping shape the future of our country. We want to make sure everybody who wants the opportunity to vote on Election Day has his/her registration up to date.”

On Sunday, Oct. 16, 1:30 pm, at Lake Forest High School Auditorium, there will be a rematch between Bob Dold (R) and Brad Schneider (D) for the 10th Congressional seat. Following their debate will be one for the 29th District State Senate with Julie Morrison (D) vs. Ben Salzberg (R) and 58th District State Representative with Scott Drury (D) vs. Martin Blumenthal (R).
