League of Women Voters Fall Kick-off Social

Enjoy refreshments and socializing, highlighted by a behind-the-scenes view of Illinois Politics by the Honorable Susan Garrett

The League of Women Voters of Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Area (LWV-LF/LB) is kicking-off the fall season with an afternoon social on Sunday, September 18 from 3 to 5 p.m. at 555 E. Spruce, Lake Forest. While enjoying refreshments and a congenial atmosphere, guests can learn about the many activities planned for this interesting election year. Highlighting the afternoon will be an “Inside Illinois Politics” chat by the Honorable Susan Garrett. She will share her behind-the-scenes insight.
Susan currently is the chair of the Illinois Campaign for Political Reform (ICPR) in Chicago. LWV-LF/LB is proud to claim Susan was its chapter president from 1996 to 1997. She went on to represent the 59th District as state representative for four years and then 10 years as state senator for the 29th District.
The League and ICPR have a lot in common. The Illinois Campaign for Political Reform is a non-partisan public interest group that conducts research and advocates reforms to promote public participation in government, address the role of money in politics, and encourage integrity, accountability, and transparency in government. ICPR holds events with notable speakers on political reform topics.
All are invited to join in the discussion and complimentary event at 555 E. Spruce, Lake Forest, home of Stevie Clark. The setting is a late 1800’s farmhouse that has been restored and expanded to an exquisite 21st century home. It is surrounded by perennial gardens featured in the North Shore Garden Walk. The home is situated on what was called “Strawberry Fields Farm” back in the beginnings of Lake Forest.
As seating is limited, RSVP to Linda (847) 234-7069. Members should let Linda know if they need a ride.
Don’t miss out, be sure to join us, and bring a friend! We have a busy year planned.
