League of Women Voters - Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Area Organizes National Voter Registration Day Drive

The League of Women Voters - Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Area is taking part in National Voter Registration Day (NVRD), a nationwide, nonpartisan effort to register thousands of voters on Tuesday, September 26. The League has formed partnerships throughout the two communities to encourage voter registration.

Lake Forest City Council and Lake Bluff Village Board both passed resolutions in support of NVRD. Lake County Board members, Sandy Hart and Mike Rummel, included the information in their e-newsletters. Local entities providing voter registration on September 26 include Lake Bluff Public Library, Lake Forest Library, Dickinson Hall, Lake Forest Academy, Lake Forest High School, Lake Forest College, Shields Township, and the City of Lake Forest.

Deputy voter registrars will be available to register voters and answer questions at the following locations and times:

• Lake Bluff Library, 123 E. Scranton, Lake Bluff: 10 am to 2 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm
• Shields Township, 906 W. Muir Ave., Lake Bluff: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
• Lake Forest Library, 360 E. Deerpath Rd., Lake Forest: 10 am to 5 pm
• Lake Forest City Hall, 220 E. Deerpath, Lake Forest: 8 am to 4:30 pm
• Lake Forest Municipal Building, 800 Field Dr., Lake Forest: 8:30 am to noon
• Dickinson Hall, 100 E. Old Mill Rd, Lake Forest: 10 am to 1 pm

To register to vote you must:

• Be a United States citizen.
• Be at least 18 years of age on or before the next election (17-year-old residents may register and vote in primaries if 18th birthday occurs before date of general election).
• Live in your election precinct at least 30 days immediately prior to an election.
• Not be convicted and in jail.
• Not claim the right to vote anywhere else.
