League of Women Voters Urge Residents to Complete Lake Forest Sustainability Survey
Your help is needed in determining how the City of Lake Forest plans for the future.

Help out! The League of Women Voters - Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Area (LWV-LF/LB) encourages residents to complete the Sustainability Survey on the City of Lake Forest’s website www.cityoflakeforest.com. It will only take a few minutes and may do a world of good! The deadline is June 30.
“This is a great opportunity to help the City determine a sustainable future,” says Liz Bradner, Co-President of the League. According to the Environmental Protection Agency “Sustainability creates and maintains the conditions under which humans and nature can exist in productive harmony that permit fulfilling the social, economic, and other requirements of present and future generations.”
Many of our neighboring communities already have addressed sustainability concerns. Lake County has a very comprehensive plan and an abundance of information on its website http://www.lakecountyil.gov/Green/Pages/default.aspx . Many financial incentives are listed. Highland Park has a Sustainability Plan while Deerfield has a Sustainability Commission.

The League of Women Voters has a long standing position for conserving and managing natural resources to assure future availability while protecting the environment and public health. Once the survey results are compiled, LWV-LF/LB looks forward to helping the Lake Forest Collaborative for Environmental Leadership educate residents on environmental sustainability.
Lake Forest already is a “Tree City”, and a “Cool City”, let’s make it a sustainable city too.
