LFHS Scouts Football Returns Key Starters

Depth and stability at quarterback could mean a good 2015 for Lake Forest football.

The Lake Forest High School Scouts’ football team returns three top players on offense from a 2014 squad that went 8-4 overall and 3-3 in the North Suburban Lake Conference.

Quarterback Danny Carollo has 13 touchdown tosses last year, as running back Quinn Julian put together 662 yards on the ground and wide receiver Brian Doherty 19 catches for 313 yards.

“The return of Carollo is a reason for optimism, according to a preview by the Lake Forester. “The 6-foot-2, 210-pound quarterback started all 12 games in 2014 and spent the offseason studying his position.”

Depth should also help the scouts, who begin at home on Friday, August 28 against Chicago Dunbar. Five of the team’s first seven games are at home, including an October 9 rivalry tilt with Stevenson.

“Lake Forest has 68 varsity players, up from 60 in 2014. The extra bodies allow the team to run more focused practice drills. This can’t be understated when the Scouts’ main competitors in the NSC Lake are Class 8A Stevenson and Warren and Class 7A Libertyville.”
