LFHS Students Will Start School Days Later Next Year

New "hybrid" schedule means no school before 8 a.m. in 2016-17.

Students at Lake Forest High School will start their school days later next year as part of a “hybrid” schedule currently in the finalization stage by administrators.

The school day will begin at 8:15 a.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays during the 2016-17 school year and at 8:50 a.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, according to the Daily North Shore. Currently, the school day begins at 7:50 a.m.

The school day will also let out later each day, but the exact time has yet to be determined.

The schedule will also be different on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays than it will be on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays will be “Scout days,” with eight periods lasting for 45 minutes each. Wednesdays and Thursdays will be “Blue and Gold days,” with four 85-minute periods. Students will attend half their classes on Wednesday and the other half on Thursday.

The current schedule is divided into eight 50-minute periods.
