LFHS Teacher Found Guilty of Having Physical Contact With Student

A judge didn't believe Albert Macius' "excuse" for touching the leg of a 17-year old girl at her Lake Bluff home.

LAKE FOREST, IL - A Lake Forest High School math teacher was found guilty of two counts of misdemeanor battery this week in connection to accusations he kissed and touched the leg of a 17-year old female student last year at her home in Lake Bluff.

Albert Macius will be sentenced for the crimes in April by Lake County Criminal Court Judge Mark Levitt, who handed down the guilty verdict, according to the Daily North Shore.

The victim testified in court that Macius was at her home in May of 2015 to give her advice on leasing or purchasing a car. But as he sat on the living room couch and the victim on a chair across the room, Macius motioned the victim to sit next to him and then began touching her leg.

“He touched my upper thighs and my legs,” the victim said. “He kept his hands on my legs and upper thighs. I got my dogs and put them on the couch as a barrier.”

When Macius left, he “hugged me pretty hard so I pulled away,” the victim said. “He kissed my neck and my hair. It seemed pretty weird. Before the hugs were very short. This time it was 45 seconds or a minute. When I pulled back he said ‘this feels so right.’”

Macius admitted to touching her leg, saying it was in order to keep her attention to the topic of purchasing a car, but denied kissing the victim.

“That excuse is absurd,” Levitt told Macius, who remains in unpaid leave from LFHS.

The DNS reports the school board has taken action to terminate the tenured teacher.
