Local Food Bank Gets A Decadent Treat

A Lake Forest High School student's gelato company periodically donates to a Catholic Church in Waukegan.

From Dillon Hollingsworth: As part of the Dillon Hollingsworth Gelato "Pints for Meals" program, the company donates gelato periodically to Most Blessed Trinity Parish, a Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of Chicago located in Waukegan.

"There is a shortage of fun, high-end foods available for distribution through our food banks and pantries," said Dillon Hollingsworth. "We tend to think of food banks as a place for the most basic food necessities, and that is important but it is nice to see people of need getting a decadent treat once in a while like gelato especially now that the temperatures are rising. Their Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry serves thousands of families that are truly struggling to make ends meet."

Their social services coordinator is Darlene Montes De Oca-Garcia and they have a great staff of volunteers there.
