"Magic Mike" Producer Found Passion in Lake Forest

Reid Carolin says it was his Mom who provided him the inspiration for movie writing when he was growing up in Lake Forest.

Reid Carolin, writer and producer of both “Magic Mike” movies, credits the film passion of his mother while growing up in Lake Forest for motivating him to a stellar career in the industry.

“Mom was a movie addict,” Carolin, a Lake Forest High School alum, told the Daily Herald ahead of Wednesday’s opening of Magic Mike XXL. “Every night she was watching a couple of movies. I’d watch with her. She’d tell me all about them. Then she would take me to movies when I was 10 or 11. I fell in love with movies very quickly.”

Carolin is also known for serving as the executive producer for the movies “22 Jump Street” and “White House Down.”
