Man Plows SUV Into Group, Killing 1, Injuring 4: Police
A 40-year-old man was killed and four others — including a 10-year-old girl — were injured after being struck by an SUV Friday in Waukegan.

WAUKEGAN, IL — One man is dead and another charged with murder after argument in the parking lot at the end of a soccer match Friday led to an SUV plowing into a group of people, including several family members, police said.
Around 11:40 p.m., police got a report of a fight at the Lake County Sports Center, 351 Oakwood Ave., in Waukegan. Officers on their way to the scene got an update that a vehicle had struck someone and fled the scene. As the investigation into the incident begun, a patrol officer noticed a black 2010 GMC SUV with three people inside and damage to the front end and pulled it over, according to police.
Priscilian Carranza, 22, was driving SUV when it struck at least five people, killing one, in the sports center parking lot, police said. The group of people he is accused of striking included four members of the same family.

Jose Ochoa-Martinez, 40, of Waukegan, was taken to Vista Medical Center East, where he later died, according to police and the Lake County Coroner's Office. Three young men ranging from their late teens to their 20s were taken to an area hospital with moderate injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening. A 10-year-old girl was also struck by the car but did not need to be taken to hospital, according to police.
Investigators believe an altercation took place in the parking lot as a soccer match was ending. That argument escalated to Carranaza driving the SUV into the family members. Two other people who were in the SUV when police pulled it over were released without charges pending further investigation, police said.
