Margaret "Peggy" Bernthal, 92, Lake Forest

Margaret “Peggy” Bernthal, age 92, passed away September 23, 2022 at Lake Forest Place, Lake Forest, IL. She graduated from the nursing program at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, NY in 1951 and worked as an RN in New York and Florida. Then moved to California and worked as a surgical RN at UCLA Hospital. Margaret married Harold “Hal” Bernthal in 1958. Peggy served as a volunteer at Lake Forest Hospital and on Women’s Board of Lake Forest Hospital, was a den mother, and served as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors for The Living Desert Zoological Park in Palm Desert, CA. In the last few years, she and her husband were primarily involved with philanthropic activities.
