Marine Recruiter Charged With Sexual Assault Of Teen

A 27-year-old staff sergeant stationed at the Marine Corps Recruiting Center is accused of having sex with a teenage girl working to enlist.

WAUKEGAN, IL — A Marine recruiter was arrested Tuesday after an investigation found he had sex with a teenage girl who was working to enlist in the Marine Corps, the Lake County Sheriff's Office announced.

Alexander Louis, 27, of the 1800 block of Georgia Avenue, North Chicago, faces one count of criminal sexual assault due to his position of trust, authority and supervision over the girl, according to Sgt. Chris Covelli.

The Sheriff's Office received a report Thursday of a sex offense involving a girl between the ages of 14 and 17, Covelli said. According to court records, the incident took place Thursday.

Detectives immediately launched an investigation that revealed the girl had become acquainted with Louis, Covelli said. He drove to her home in Lake Villa Township on several occasions when her parents were not home, having sex with her on one such occasion.

Louis, a staff sergeant, had been assigned to the Marine Corps Recruiting Center at 934 North Green Bay Road in Waukegan since 2016, according to Covelli. Sheriff's Office detectives have been in communication with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service and the U.S. Marine Corps has been fully cooperative with the investigation, he said.
