Metra Train Hits Car in Highwood

No one was injured Wednesday afternoon around 1:30 p.m. when a Metra train hit a car near the intersection of Green Bay Road and Highwood Avenue in Highwood.

According to Highwood Police Officer Tim Gwinn, the couple in the car, an Acura SUV, was turning east when the gate for the train was going down.

“They stopped, the train slowed down and hit them,” said Gwinn, one of four police officers on the scene.

Both individuals i the SUV refused medical treatment.
