Lake Bluff is pulling out its red, white and blue for a special event on Saturday, Sept. 10, a “Patriotic Spirit Day” to celebrate the spirit of community and patriotism with activities for the whole family.

Held from 11 am to 5 pm on the downtown Village Green, the event will include the opportunity for kids to go through a Navy SEAL obstacle course, a variety of fitness and craft activities sponsored by the Lake Bluff Park District, food, giveaways and more.

Chicago Bears fans will also have the opportunity to purchase a raffle ticket to win a visit behind the scenes at the Bears’ headquarters and training complex. Tickets are available that day only with FIVE lucky families winning 4 tickets each for a Saturday morning visit to Halas Hall in February to include a presentation on the history of the Bears and a tour of both Halas Hall and the Peyton Center. (Raffle tickets will be priced at $20 each with a portion of the proceeds going to the USO of Illinois.)

The Village is also welcoming and paying tribute to military friends and neighbors. The Boy Scouts will be selling popcorn to be sent to military personnel and there will be an opportunity to write letters of support to troops. The American Legion and Legion Auxiliary will be hosting a display to share information about local military and veteran-related entities, and local businesses will be offering discounts to those with a military ID (more info at www.LFLBmilitaryconnections.com).

The centerpiece of the event is a Navy SEAL obstacle course run by veteran Navy SEALS with Thrive Project for America. Kids from 7 to 18 years will have the opportunity to participate with a signed parental waiver that is available on the Chamber website.
