New Plan at Laurel and Western Calls For Less Apartments

The Lake Forest Plan Commission voted 2-2 this week on a motion to recommend approval to the City Council the latest plans for redevelopment at Laurel and Western avenues.
Following input from residents, an amended tentative plat of subdivision and preliminary site plan calling for a reduced number of total units and apartments was presented to the Commission on June 2.

In this plan, which will need Council approval before design aspects can be put into place, three 3-story apartment buildings will replace an original concept of two with one being four stories tall.
The number of apartments planned is down to 110, meaning the total units of the project would come to 164, still including 12 single family detached homes and 42 condominiums.

The new plan also eliminates the addition of a pool, bocce court and amenity clubhouse from apartment complex.
If the Council agrees to tentative approval, developers would need to have the design aspects submitted to the Building Review board - which could occur in July.

After that, a final site plan would need to be approved by the Plan Commission and City Council before implementation.
