North Chicago Man Stopped for Driving More Than 100 MPH

DUI
Andre J. Joseph, 26, of the 2800 block of Galilee Avenue, Zion, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after a March 19 traffic stop.

Police saw Joseph's car at about 3:56 a.m. in the 1100 block of Westleigh Road after it had driven off the roadway and hit a fence. Joseph told police he had been drinking and didn't know how the crash accident. He also failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody.
At the station, Joseph took a breath test that registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.144. The legal limit is 0.08.

Joseph was held on $3,000 bail, and his court date is April 22.
RECKLESS DRIVING
Sammy T. Wright, 41, of the 1500 block of 16th Street, North Chicago, was arrested and charged with reckless driving, driving with a suspended license and possession of drug paraphernalia after a March 14 traffic stop.
Police pulled over Wright at about 2:29 a.m. for driving more than 100 mph while passing other cars along Route 41. During the stop, police uncovered drug paraphernalia, and a background check revealed that Wright's license was suspended and that he was wanted on a Cook County warrant for failure to pay child support.
Wright was held overnight and then turned over to the Cook County Sheriff's Office. His court date is April 18.
DUI
Elroy Dawson, 39, of the 7500 block of Keeler Avenue, Skokie, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and improper lane use after a March 13 traffic stop.
Police pulled over Dawson at about 3:24 a.m. after he was seen swerving between lanes while traveling along Route 41 near Westleigh Road. During the stop, Dawson admitted drinking and failed field sobriety tests.
He was held on $3,000 bail, and his court date is April 22.
DUI
Naaji N. Robinson, 26, of the 2300 block of Alta Vista Drive, Waukegan, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, driving with an expired license, driving without insurance and operating unsafe equipment after a March 12 traffic stop.
Police responded to a cell phone call at around 3:28 a.m. of a car driving on a flat tire along Route 41 and stopped Robinson, who was traveling on only his car's rim, near Old Elm Road. Robinson then failed field sobriety tests during the stop.
He was held on $3,000 bail, and his court date is May 6.
DUI
Adam L. Purcell, 27, of the 2800 block of Briarcliff Lane, Lake in the Hills, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, driving with an expired registration and failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident during a March 6 traffic stop.
Police responded to an accident at about 1:44 a.m. at Route 41 and Old Elm Road that occurred when Purcell hit another vehicle from behind. During the stop, Purcell told police he had been drinking and failed field sobriety tests.
He was held on $3,000 bail, and his court date is April 1.
