North Shore Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Announces Chapter Meetings for 2017-2018

North Shore Chapter NSDAR is pleased to announce its initial programming for 2017-2018. Chapter Regent Willard Helander added, “We have delightful programs planned, and we are grateful to our members who inform and entertain us with presentations and so graciously host our chapter meetings in their homes. This promises to be a wonderful year of friendship, learning, and giving in service to the community as we celebrate the 125th anniversary of the founding of this chapter!”

All prospective members are encouraged to attend chapter meetings as they give one an opportunity to meet members and get a sense of what DAR is all about.

• October – Winning Votes: Annual Benefit Lunch & Program with Leslie Goddard's Portrayal of Suffragette Alice Paul
• November – Women in the Military by Kate Cheng and Lynn Klatt
• December – Steeped in Tradition & Filled with Spirit: Holiday High Tea & Musical Entertainment by Valerie Perron
• January – Women Journalists of the Revolutionary War by Karen Springen
• February – Youth Awards: DAR Good Citizens Awards honorees and American History Essay Contest winners
• March – High Notes with Joan Hammel, Artist-in-Residence with National Park Service
• April – “Until you spread your wings, you have no idea how far you can fly," by Illinois State Regent Gloria Flathom
• May – Let’s Party Like It’s 1893: 125th Anniversary High Tea & Annual Meeting, with Art Miller, Historian
• June – Illinois State Flag: 100 Years and Still Waving by Patty Cork

Chapter meetings are monthly, September through June. Meeting dates and programs are subject to change. Each regular meeting includes a devotional and benediction, conveyance of the President General’s message and a three-minute National Defense Report. We follow Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised as parliamentary procedure.

North Shore Chapter, Lake Forest, IL (National Society Daughters of the American Revolution) was founded in 1893 to preserve the memory and spirit of those who contributed to securing American independence. Any woman 18 years or older who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible for membership.
