Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital Expansion On Schedule

Work on the major expansion at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital is on schedule, with a target opening date of Fall 2017.

Hospital President Tom McAfee told the Daily North Shore that builders plan to have as much pre-cast work done as possible, the roofs installed and windows in place on the five pavilions of the new building before the first snow this year.

The new facility will be just under 500,000 square feet and have 114 private inpatient beds, 72 outpatient spaces and eight operating rooms.

The two existing buildings will remain, but be repurposed for administrative functions.

About 660 trees on the campus will also be replanted.
