Obituary: James Dayton Webster
Mr. Webster fought in the Korean War and led a successful career in advertising.

James Dayton Webster, a long-time resident of Lake Forest, passed away on January 14th in Pineville, NC. Mr. Webster served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Waras a jet fighter pilot. After the war, he had a long and distinguished career in advertising ,both in New York and Chicago. He was the Vice President and Creative Director of bothMcCann-Erickson in New York and Chicago, and Grey Advertising in Chicago. Mr. Websterwas the Executive Television Producer for numerous national accounts, including Humble Oil, Westinghouse, Bell and Howell, Canon Cameras, and Greyhound.
He was the recipient of numerous national and international creative awards, including Ad Age’s 100 best advertising campaigns, and Cannes Film Festival. Mr.Webster was also a fine artist exhibiting at severalgalleries. He spent his last eight years teaching in the Vernon Hills School District. James is survived by his two daughters: Kim (Daniel) Munoz of Lake Forest, and Lynda (Daniel) Makarewicz of Charlotte, NC., and five grandchildren:Alexander (fiance Alexandra Miller) Munoz, Nina Munoz, Lukas Munoz, Jack Dayton Makarewicz, and Hannah Makarewicz. James was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years,Audrey, and their son, Scott Dayton Webster. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 21, 2016, at the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest, 700 North Sheridan Road, Lake Forest.
