Obituary: Norma Garrett, 87

Services for the Lake Forest High School graduate and longtime Army staffer at Fort Sheridan are scheduled for Dec. 1.

Norma Thorup Garrett peacefully passed away on November 17, 2018, at the age of 87. Norma was a resident of Symphony of Buffalo Grove. She was born October 8, 1931 to Aage and Dagny Thorup at Alice Home Hospital, Lake Forest, IL. She attended Halsey Grade School (grades K-6), Gorton School (grades 7-8) and graduated from Lake Forest High School in 1949. She was employed as a Security Clerk (Human Resources Division, Personnel Directorate) United States Army Recruiting Command, Fort Sheridan, Illinois from September 25, 1978 to December 3, 1991.

She is survived by her two daughters, Tricia Garrett Heinzmann (John) and Diana Garrett Trzaska (Jake) and her 6 grandchildren Kimberly Heinzmann, Ashley Heinzmann, John B. Heinzmann, Andrew Heinzmann, Lauren Trzaska and C.J. Trzaska. Her two sisters, Lissie Cankar of Ft Myers, FL and Nancy Williams of Bradenton, FL.

A memorial service will be held at The First Presbyterian Church, 700 Sheridan Road, Lake Forest, IL on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 10:30 am.
