William (Bill) W. Lofgren, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 while surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Donna, nee Kuester; his children, Claudia (Jeff) Davis and Claire (Mark) Robson; his grandchildren, Lindsay Davis and Elyse and Kyle Robson; and his sister, Fern Woodyatt. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gordon Lofgren and his parents, Gustaf and Esther Lofgren. Bill was a long-time Lake Bluff resident and graduated from Lake Forest High School in 1945. He then went on to attend trade school and worked in every facet of the plumbing industry completing his career as superintendent at H.T. Strenger in Lake Forest. He was a proud Korean War veteran, having served as a medic in the U.S. Army. Bill, together with his wife, Donna, and the help of many relatives and close friends, fulfilled their dream of building a lakeside log cabin in the north woods, a gathering place for many years of cherished memories. His primary focus in life was caring for and bringing joy to his treasured family. He will be remembered for his thoughtful and loving nature, his ever-present concern for others, and his knack for bringing a little humor into almost any situation. A family interment is planned. We encourage those who were close to Bill to remember him privately in their own way. Memorial donations may be made to the Lake Bluff History Museum where he served as a docent for many years.
