PETA Offers $5K Reward For Info on Dead Cat Found in Waukegan

The cat was found hanging from a tree last month.

WAUKEGAN, IL - Animal rights group PETA has offered a $5,000 reward for information that would lead to an arrest and conviction of anyone responsible for an incident in which a dead cat was found hanging from a tree in Waukegan last month.

The reward will be offered in addition to a $1,000 reward already offered by Fat Cat Rescue in North Chicago.

The Waukegan Police Department is investigating the incident, reported in mid-December, in which the cat was found with a rope hanging from her neck near Montasano Avenue and New York Street.

“Someone in the Waukegan area was callous enough to subject this poor cat to the agony of being hanged, and that person is dangerous,” PETA Senior Director Colleen O’Brien said. “PETA is urging anyone with information about this case to come forward immediately, before anyone else is hurt.”

Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to contact the Waukegan Police Department at 847-360-9000.
