Rules Change In Lake Forest For Parking In Business District

Parking rules in Lake Forest's Central Business District will change starting in May.

LAKE FOREST, IL — New parking rules will be enforced in Lake Forest's Central Business District come May.

Since September, the city has been evaluating how parking functions across the area. Officials considered input from businesses, residents, employees and visitors to develop a simpler system that is customer-friendly.

"I'm excited about the promise that this has to make parking clearer and easier for everybody," Alderman Edward Notz said.

The updated rules are:

  • Street parking is generally limited to 90 minutes
  • 30-minute “quick stop” spaces are located along and near Deerpath Road and in select high-turnover areas
  • Most parking lots allow free 3-hour parking, with some 30-minute spaces closest to businesses
  • Employee parking is in the perimeter lots to keep the most convenient spaces open for customers

There are a few exceptions to the new rules, with some areas allowing for overnight parking for people with permits.
