Armed Robbers Steal Pants, Cell Phone from Teen: Police

The two juvenile suspects were taken into custody following the armed robbery in Beach Park. The teen was not injured.

BEACH PARK, IL - A 19-year-old man was robbed of his pants and his cell phone Tuesday afternoon during an armed robbery in Beach Park.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to an area in the 11200 block of west Edgewood Road in Beach Park at about 3:15 p.m. where they found the 19-year-old man uninjured, according to a sheriff’s office news release. The teen said he was held at gunpoint by two juvenile offenders -- one who he knew --and that his pants and cell phone were stolen.

Both offenders fled the scene following the robbery. Sheriff’s deputies and detectives were able to positively identify both juvenile offenders and they were arrested, according to the news release.

The firearm used in the robbery was recovered and it was determined to be a replica, not an actual functioning firearm, police said.

Sheriff’s detectives have submitted a juvenile delinquent referral/petition for both juveniles on the charge of Aggravated Robbery, which is a Class 1 Felony. Both juveniles are being held at the Lake County Hulse Juvenile Detention Center pending a juvenile detention hearing.
