SHARK SIGHTINGS CAPTURE ATTENTION

Film screening of Jaws by Steven Spielberg at Gorton Community Center this Friday, July 15 at 7PM. #filmatgorton

Lake Forest, Il- Something fishy has been happening around Lake Forest and Lake Bluff and it has everything to do with the Gorton Community Center’s screening of the 1975 Spielberg hit Jaws this Friday, July 15th. A shark has been seen all about town – at the Bluffinia concert on Sunday night, at the Daily Grind and City Hall, at the beach and Starbucks, as well as Jewel Osco, Foodstuffs, Fred’s Barber Shoppe, Lake Forest Book Store and more! Reaction to the shark’s interest in the area has been overwhelmingly positive. People have lined up to have their photo taken with the screen legend.

The shark sightings will continue through Friday, when he will be seen on the big screen. Jaws will begin on Friday the 15th at 7pm. A feeding frenzy of The Left Bank food truck, and beer, wine and candy will be available starting at 6pm. The Film Series at Gorton has become a staple of Gorton programming and community interest. Since Gorton’s renovation that finished in the fall of 2015, the John & Nancy Hughes Theater has become host to myriad community programs, but its real shining jewel is its cinema system. “The system – projection and support equipment, screen and surround sound system – is state of the art – it is more advanced than any of the systems in even the newest neighboring big box cinemas and sits at the top of the finest systems in the entire region.” said Grace Heatherington-Tilka, theater manager. It lends itself to the finest movie-going experience for those that attend.

Roger Ebert hailed Jaws as “one of the most effective thrillers ever made.” Jamie Hall, Film Events Manager at Gorton Center says, “All of the films we’ve chosen for summer line up at Gorton are memorable in their own way. We chose Jaws for our July film because it is not only fun, but it really redefined the summer blockbuster as we know it today.”
