Sharp Object Found in Child's Trick-or-Treat Bag in Beach Park

The Lake County Sheriff's Office said the object is commonly used to prick fingers and test for blood levels.

BEACH PARK, IL — A sharp object commonly used to prick fingers to test for blood and sugar levels was found in a child's trick-or-treat bag Sunday in Beach Park.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office is investigating the find, which was reported by the child's family and occurred within the Cambridge subdivision in Beach Park.

Sheriff's detectives conducted a canvass of the area after the incident was reported but were unable to determine if the item was intentionally placed in the child's bag.

The village of Beach Park is located in central Lake County between Waukegan and Zion.
