LAKE FOREST, IL — Police asked the public to report any suspicious cars or people after a pair of break-ins at Lake Forest homes last week. In one instance, security cameras captured images of suspects and their car, police said.

Someone broke into a house somewhere in the Conway Farms subdivision in southwest Lake Forest around 11:15 a.m. Thursday, according to an alert from police. The burglars struck shortly after the homeowner left the house and stole several items of jewelry in a short period of time, police said.

Police released images of a silver Mercedes-Benz from the mid 2000s with a sunroof and a man wearing shorts captured from cameras in the area. According to the alert, the masked man was a passenger in the car.
