Teen Driving MINI Clinic

Teenage drivers can gain safe driving experience at the Teen Driving MINI Clinic, taught by race car drivers and sponsored by Knauz MINI.

Being a safe driver is one of the most important habits to work into your daily routine. Hands on the wheel, eyes on the road; the whole shebang. As a car dealership, we feel it is our duty to educate young drivers in our community about the dangers of distracted driving, and how to be a safer driver. For the second year, we are partnering with Indianapolis-based performance driving school, Miles Ahead, for Teen Driving MINI Clinic, which will take place on Saturday, July 9, 2016 from Noon to 4:00PM at Christ Church Crossroads in Grayslake. Teenage drivers with either their learner’s permit or driver’s license may participate for a $5 fee. Proceeds will be donated to the Church’s Senior High Youth Group. The event is limited to the first 150 registrants. Parents are welcome to attend.

Participants will be given hands-on experience with an instructor in the passenger seat. Each one-hour session begins with a brief classroom presentation, followed by a one-on-one behind-the-wheel lesson taught by a race car driver. The students will drive a MINI John Cooper Works Hardtop through a marked course in the parking lot with simulated distractions including counting backwards while reading “road signs”, and wearing impaired vision goggles.

Thank you to all of the young drivers that attended the Teen Driving MINI Clinic last October! Parker Reinhard, a junior at Warren Township High School, says that he is a safer driver after participating in this clinic, and he enjoyed his experience. “It was fun to be behind the wheel of cool cars and be taught by actual race car drivers.” He also said it was an added bonus to have bragging rights for not hitting any cones. Good job, Parker!
